Connecting your users to us for Remote Control support using Real VNC for XP or UltraVNC for Vista and Windows 7

Windows 2000 and XP users use RealVNC.
Windows Vista and 7 users use UltraVNC.

Now that you have one of the VNC softwares installed on your computer, (click here if not), connecting to us couldn't be simpler.  You connect to us in three clicks with an address as supplied to you via telephone by us as part of your technical support call.  (You will need to call us anyway to explain your problem).

Simply locate the white VNC icon near your clock, (example for XP users), usually in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, right click on it and choose from the popup menu "Add New Client" as follows:-

Then choose the address of the viewer by typing in the address of support, ie we are the viewers of your screen to help you.  You must call for this address as it occasionally changes and you may wish to write it down.  For example the screen should look like:-

Help Desk IP Addresses
77.74.108.201
77.74.108.202
77.74.108.203
77.74.108.204
Stuart
Mark

Spare

Now click OK and your screen should be visible to Support to immediately help you and you will notice that your RealVNC icon near your clock will change colour from White (disconnected) to black (connected).  Please note that if we need to restart your computer (or log you off to log you in as an Administrator) you may need to re-connect to us after logging back on.  Please keep an eye out for this by periodically checking your computer screen.  If it looks like we are at a login prompt, please log in and re-connect us using the address you wrote down (see above).

Note: If you have a slow Internet connection, we may ask you to remove your desktop background (or Theme) by setting it to none.  To do this, right click on the background, choose "Properties" from the popup menu, click on the "Desktop" tab, and set the Background to "(none)".  Click "OK".

Note also: Vista users must switch off UAC and run VNC Server is "User Mode" - click here to find out how to.
