Connecting to MyServer with Remote Desktop Connection

To connect to MyServer using the Remote Desktop Connection Client (previously known as Terminal Services Client), firstly determine if your computer has the Remote Desktop Connection Client software installed.  Windows XP users will have it installed as standard.  If you do not have it installed, simple download it for free from our website.

With the Remote Desktop Connection software installed, you can access the software by looking for it in the Accessories section of your computer.  Click on:-

Start  ->  All Programs  ->  Accessories

Note: On some computers it is in Communications within Accessories

Start  ->  All Programs  ->  Accessories  ->  Communications

When you run the Remote Desktop Connection Client, you will need to know the name of the computer system in which you are connecting.  In the box marked "Computer", you will need to enter the name of our data centre:-

     Computer:      myserver.markandrewsmith.com

Notes:

  • We have multiple remote desktop servers, so you may be asked to enter a different address into the "Computer" field above.  This is so that all your users are not on one server in case of failure, your Business will still function as some staff can still have some access via the other server.
  • This address does not start with www. and please ensure it is spelt correctly.  Your computer will remember this address, so it is essential that you get the address correct.  Some clients may have a different address, if you have been given a different address, please use that one instead of the above, but in the same place as above.
  • Please take note of any system messages, and then enter your MyServer username and password as supplied my Mark Andrew Smith Limited.  Your printers will be available 60 seconds after establishing a connection and your desktop has completely loaded.
  • Microsoft Windows Vista may warn that you are connecting to an older version of the Remote Desktop Service, please ignore this.
